KooKoo Bear Kids Monkey See.. Monkey Do Contest

07.21.10

KooKoo Bear Kids Sock Monkey Contest
Promises to be fun for both parents and children.

The contest is simple – for every sock monkey purchased at KooKoo Bear Kids from July 15 through October 1 2010, 10% of the proceeds will be donated to the STAR House Foundation. Once purchased, contestants will take photographs with their Sock Monkey in interesting and fun locations. This could be on vacation, playing at home, involved with their local sports team or even participating in local charitable events – imagination is encouraged.

Star House Foundation

“We are so pleased that KooKoo Bear has chosen STAR House as the beneficiary of its ‘Monkey SEE, Monkey DO’ campaign. In a very real way, the families that purchase one of these sock monkeys will contribute to the educational success of families in our community,” said Linda Schultz, Chair of the STAR House Board of Directors.

“Encouraging kids and families to get involved in events that give back to our community is an excellent way to teach kids how to appreciate what they have,” said Joe Mediate, chief marketing officer of KooKoo Bear Kids. “We are proud that ‘Monkey SEE, Monkey DO’ will benefit such a fine organization.”

The rebirth of the sock monkey has become a national sensation. They began in the late 1800’s when mothers would make dolls out of discarded socks. Today they are made of high quality cotton knit; the KooKoo Bear Kids’ sock monkeys come in blue, pink, or brown and are available in two sizes.

STAR House Foundation is enriching our community by promoting academic success and empowering lifelong achievement in at-risk children. For the past 16 years, STAR House has remained true to the same ideal: mold children into thoughtful leaders who reflect upstanding values and they will make their mark on those around them. In 1993, community concerns for the safety of children in a low income apartment complex led a group of volunteers to create an after school educational and enrichment program. From that small, one unit apartment “center” serving 15-20 children, has grown a model for after school education and care for at-risk students. STAR House now operates in 3 schools in Roswell, Georgia and serves 180 students in elementary, middle and high school. STAR House provides homework help, tutoring, mentoring and school supplies in a safe and caring atmosphere. For more information visit http://www.starhousefoundation.org.

KooKoo Bear Baby and Kids Opens New Retail Store in Sweet Apple Village

Roswell Children’s Boutique Hosting Grand Opening

KooKoo Bear Baby and Kids Store
KooKoo Bear Baby and Kids Inc., marketer of upscale children’s furniture, room décor and gifts, announces the opening of its flagship children’s retail store in Roswell, Ga. The store will hold a Grand Opening, featuring sales and specials, on Saturday, November 7, 2009 to reveal their new Holiday lines in time for the Shopping season.

“We had an overwhelming customer demand to open a larger retail store that offered an unparalleled shopping experience where people could touch and feel our high quality merchandise,” said Tara Mediate, president of KooKoo Bear Baby and Kids. Our products have been featured throughout the media including InStyle Magazine, NBC Today Show, Pregnancy Magazine, and other acclaimed publications and we needed to address the local market with a high quality retail shopping experience.

Tara created KooKoo Bear Baby and Kids out of necessity said Trace Walsh, vice president of creative design at KooKoo Bear Kids. She wanted to send a baby gift to her brother and sister-in-law and wanted something besides the typical cookie basket, gourmet foods or flowers. Tara needed a special place to shop to celebrate the birth of her nephew. This “shop” needed to have the right selection of unique gifts and have excellent customer service. A “shop” where one could find the perfect gift: accessories for a dreamy nursery…stylish gifts for Mom…stylish gifts for baby and beyond.

Problem, such a “shop” did not exist. Solution: Tara did what any mother would do, she solved the problem by creating KooKoo Bear Baby and Kids. (She could have called it “Cloud Nine” since your nursery decorating dreams come true the moment you walk into their Flagship Store.)

Whether you desire opulence or simplicity for your new arrival, KooKoo Bear Baby and Kids will delight and surprise. “The secret is out…celebrity mommies such as Cindy Crawford, Mira Sorvino, Kate Hudson, Kelly Ripa and more are “in the know”…KooKoo Bear Baby and Kids now has a starring role” said Tara.

KooKoo Bear Baby and Kids store is located in Sweet Apple Village at 12060 Etris Road in Roswell, GA. The store will be open between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., Monday through Sunday. Personalized gifts and designer products from Young America by Stanley Furniture, Lea Furniture, Rachel Ashwell’s Shabby Chic, Traditions by Pamela Kline, Petunia Pickle Bottom, and Rub a Dub Dub are just some of the specialty items offered at the store and on-line. For added convenience, customers will be able to return items ordered through the Web site at the retail store. For additional information, contact the store at (770) 771-5665

Join us for a book reading and signing by Georia Resident and Author Anne Ginkel. ANNE GINKEL is a former teacher in the United States and England. She holds degrees from St. Joseph’s College, the University of Warwick in England, and Southern College of Technology. For many years, she owned Hobbit Hall Children’s Bookstore in Roswell Ga. This is her first children’s book.

About the book – I’VE GOT AN ELEPHANT

Though other kids have teddy bears to cuddle up tight.
I’ve got an elephant to hug me every night. Owning an elephant is terrific, but what happens when he gets lonely and invites over a friend? I’ve got two elephants who come with me to school. The kids on the bus all think we’re really cool. One can always find a way to work with two elephants, but what happens when they get lonely?

As the elephant population climbs, things get more and more complicated until finally our intrepid heroine may have been pushed too far. How many elephants is too many? What do you do when you’ve got more elephants than you can handle?
Don’t worry! Author Anne Ginkel and artist Janie Bynum have expertly managed to corral these unruly pachyderms into an entertaining and hilarious counting tale.
