The Babycurean University at KooKoo Bear Baby & Kids is working to bridge the gap between what you get and what you really need during your pregnancy and beyond.
The course offerings reflect our mission and provide moms-to-be, their families, and support networks an opportunity to learn in a small, group setting that is nurturing, informative, and confidence building. Courses are focused on specific topics and are taught by experts in fields related directly to the course subject matter.
Baby Basics: Caring for your infant

First-time parent? Don’t let the butterflies get you all jittery about caring for your new baby! Join us to learn the practical skills needed to care for your newborn and what you really need to get the job done. You’ll learn the basics of cleaning, swaddling, changing, calming, sleeping, taking temperatures, and more! Pediatricians have changed the way they see basic baby care since we were young, so this is an excellent class for grandparents-to-be, too.

Breastfeeding: What the Pump?
July 25 – 10:00 am – 3:00 pm
Overwhelmed by the decisions to be made before your baby arrives? Pumps to purchase, nursing bras, breastfeeding pillows and stools – it’s a lot! We’ll guide you through the ins and outs of pumping, why it’s best to wait to purchase a pump until after delivery, the differences between pump types, when to pump, hand expression, storage tips, pumping bras, and more! Theresa Roberts, RN, MS, IBCLC will be leading the class through an engaging and interactive discussion about all things nursing-related! You’ll be able to ask candid questions, talk through your concerns and fears, and learn some useful strategies as you embark on the wonderful journey of motherhood and breastfeeding!

Labor and Delivery: The Real Deal
July 25 – 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm
Learning what to expect when you are in labor is just as important as learning what to expect when you’re expecting. Effective childbirth preparation classes teach you to identify what’s going on with your body, understand the stages of labor, and to plan accordingly. This class does not focus on a particular technique, a specific method of delivery, and doesn’t make dad play stupid games. You’ll learn about anatomy, physiology, breathing, and relaxation and visualization. Newborn appearance, normal newborn behavior, baby care in the hospital, initial bonding, and beginning breastfeeding are among the topics you’ll discuss.

Our Mommy Matters Enrichment Groups
for pregnant women and represent one of many ways that Babycurean and KooKoo Bear Baby & Kids reaches out to the community to provide support and encouragement during the most significant time in a woman’s life.
The University and Enrichment groups are held at KooKoo Bear Baby & Kids at 12060 Etris Road Roswell, Ga 30075 to provide a great venue for meeting other women in the same stage of pregnancy.

Aaaaahhhh, the second trimester! Come meet other second-trimester women in a group led by one of our RNs. Talk about what’s bugging you these days – your cranky
partner, your changing shape, why everything stinks, your ginormous boobs, and food cravings. Make new friends and gain insights along the way in a safe and pregnancy friendly environment. Ideal for any woman between 14 – 27 weeks. Refreshments will be served.

Holy guacamole Batgirl! You’re having a baby! Come meet other third-trimester women in a group led by one of our RNs. Talk about what’s making you crazy and grumpy – anxiety over childbirth, those nosy in-laws, the boss that won’t let up, and your paranoid partner. Make new friends and gain insights along the way in a safe and pregnancy friendly environment. Ideal for any woman beyond 27 weeks. Refreshments will be served.
